The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) set up the Innovation Hub (Termed: RBIH), to promote innovation across the financial sector. The Hub will leverage technology and help create an environment that would facilitate and foster innovation.

RBIH will collaborate with financial sector institutions, the technology industry, and academic institutions to coordinate efforts for the exchange of ideas and the development of prototypes related to financial innovation.

The Hub will help develop internal infrastructure to promote FinTech research and facilitate engagement with innovators and start-ups.


We are looking for an experienced and visionary Head of Research to lead research division with an experience of 15-20 years in BFSI sector. As the Head of Research, your role will involve identifying and delivering actionable insights that can drive strategic decisions and business growth.


1. Market Analysis:

a) Market Size and Growth: Analyze the current market size, historical growth rates, and future projections. Identify high-growth segments within the BFSI sector.
b) Market Trends: Identify and analyze emerging trends in the BFSI industry, such as digital banking, fintech innovations, blockchain technology, and changing customer preferences.
c) Competitive Landscape: Conduct thorough competitor analysis, benchmarking against key players in the industry. Identify their strengths, weaknesses, strategies, and market positioning.

2. Consumer Insights:

a) Customer Behavior and Preferences: Understand and track changes in customer behavior, preferences, and expectations. Identify factors driving customer satisfaction and loyalty.
b)Customer Journey Mapping: Analyze the customer journey to identify pain points and opportunities for enhancing customer experience.

3. Product and Service Innovation:

a) New Product Development: Identify gaps in the market and opportunities for new product or service offerings. Provide insights into customer needs and preferences that can inform product development.
b) Product Performance: Analyze the performance of existing products and services. Identify areas for improvement and opportunities for cross-selling or upselling.

4. Technological Advancements:

a) Technology Trends: Stay abreast of technological advancements and innovations in the BFSI sector. Assess their potential impact and opportunities for adoption.
b) Digital Transformation: Provide insights and recommendations for digital transformation initiatives. Identify areas where technology can improve efficiency, customer experience, and competitive advantage.

5. Strategic Recommendations:

a) Growth Opportunities: Identify and evaluate new market opportunities, potential partnerships, and acquisition targets. Provide strategic recommendations for business expansion.
b) Performance Metrics: Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success of research initiatives and their impact on business outcomes.

To ensure research insights are actionable and effectively integrated into business strategies:


  • Regular Reporting: Establish a schedule for regular reporting and presentations to senior leadership and key stakeholders.
  • Collaborative Workshops: Organize workshops and brainstorming sessions with cross- functional teams to discuss research findings and co-create strategic action plans.
  • Feedback Loop: Create a feedback loop with business units to ensure continuous improvement and alignment of research activities with business needs.
  • Executive Summaries: Provide concise executive summaries of key research findings, highlighting actionable insights and recommended actions.

  • Proven experience of 15-20 years in research roles within the BFSI sector.
  • Deep understanding of the BFSI industry, including market trends, regulatory environment, and competitive landscape.
  • Strong analytical, quantitative, and qualitative research skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and senior executives.
  • Proficiency in research tools, data analysis software, and emerging technologies
  • Strategic thinker with a forward-looking perspective.
  • Innovative and open to new ideas and methodologies.


  • Advanced degree (Master’s or Ph.D.) in Finance, Economics, Business Administration or related field.


The appointment will be on a contract basis with an initial term of 3 years, extendable based on need and performance.
